Foot pain might be easier to fix than you think...

Frequently, customers come to us with complaints such as: "the middle of my foot hurts, and I would like to find a solution." In this case, the first thing we do is reassure the customer that they're in the right place and have already taken the first step towards solving the problem. Most foot pain can be traced back to wearing shoes with improper design, thus switching to a healthy, anatomically correct footwear can potentially entirely remedy the situation.

Understanding the anatomy of the foot

Our foot is composed of bones, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joints. This structure allows our foot to flexibly adapt to our movements, i.e., walking, jumping, running. During movement, the foot must absorb all shocks and unevenness of the ground, indicating the level of stress it endures.

This shock absorption is mostly performed by a flexible ligament that connects our heel to the toes. This ligament is called the plantar fascia. If this ligament is exposed to excessive stress, possibly due to improper footwear, it can become strained, displaced, and inflamed, causing pain.

Causes of foot pain

Foot pain is not natural, and we don't need to accept it! In all cases, we need to identify the triggers and strive to eliminate them. Here are some main causes of foot pain:

  • Overuse of the foot
  • Wearing the wrong shoes
  • Inflammation of the plantar fascia
  • Flat foot (longitudinal arch sinking)
  • Transverse arch sinking
  • Incorrect posture

What should you do if you feel: my foot hurts in the middle!

If the above problems arise, it's worth trying to change your shoes, which in most cases effectively eliminates foot pain. Barefoot shoes are designed to mimic barefoot walking while maintaining the natural shape of the foot. As a result, the foot remains in an ideal state, just like a child's foot, so no part of the sole is overloaded or strained.

How does a barefoot shoe work?

These shoes have no heels. This fact alone can alleviate numerous pains, for example, the inflammation of the plantar fascia will also decrease from this. The next important feature is the thin, flexible sole. Many are surprised by this, as most doctors will recommend stiff, thick arch supports in the case of arch sinking.

Why is a thin, flat, and flexible sole better? Because it makes the muscles, joints, and ligaments work, which strengthens the foot, makes it strong again, and enables it to maintain the transverse and longitudinal arches by itself, while in an arch support, it continues to weaken, as the insert does the job for it.

The third important part of the shoes is the wide toe box, which gives room for the toes, doesn't squeeze them into an abnormal position like an average shoe. This way, the body weight can shift over the entire surface of the foot with each step, nothing will be overloaded or deformed on it.
