Why is it important to use a waterproofing spray?
Many people think it's enough to buy the shoes and wipe them down when they get dirty, and that's it. This is far from the case! Even the best quality footwear needs constant care, and by using an impregnating spray you can extend the life of your shoes and make them more comfortable to wear.
Our shoes battle the elements
Our boots, sandals and sports shoes come into direct contact with the ground, so they are exposed to dirt at every moment. Even if you're not using public transport but driving, as soon as you get out of the car you hit the ground.
The weather conditions are very different. In drier weather, our footwear has to cope with dust, and in rainy weather, shoes are really put to the test because if they are not waterproofed, they get wet in no time. Snow and frost will also make your boots wet, but the most damaging are salted boots, as the salting agent will constantly corrode the boots and leave unsightly white patches when dry.
And that's not to mention the other dirt on the ground, mud, spills and of course, last but not least, dog mess.
You can see how your shoes are exposed to all sorts of external influences, and since you also take care of your leather every day, which can't get nearly as dirty, take a few minutes and clean it up every day!
The right shoe care routine
In addition to our excellent barefoot shoes, we also offer many useful accessories. It's worth checking out our Technolit Pro-Tect leather and textile impregnating spray, which is essential to keep your shoes looking like new for a long time.
The first time you should start caring for your shoes is when you unpack your new acquisition from the box. Your shoes are still brand new, why should you care?" you may ask. It's to keep them looking new for a long time!
Using a waterproofing spray on new shoes
So the first thing to do is to waterproof your new shoes! To do this, use the waterproofing spray, and spray it on evenly. When it's dry, spray it again, because it's best to apply two coats. Then leave to dry and soak in for 24 hours before wearing.
Daily care of your shoes
Of course, depending on how dirty your shoes are, clean off any dirt that sticks to them. Clean the soles too, using a damp, slightly soapy sponge and clean water. Once clean, let them dry. Never put your footwear on a hot radiator or tumble dry! Impregnation will be needed every six months or so, and always use perfectly dry shoes.
Benefits of impregnation
Impregnation involves coating the shoe with a thin layer called nano, which prevents moisture from getting inside. Technolit Pro-Tech waterproofing spray can be used on all types of materials, whether leather, leatherette or textile, to protect the material of your footwear while maintaining its breathability.
Once you've treated your shoes with the impregnating agent, you've made them resistant to coffee, tea, red wine, cola and greasy sauces. So you won't have to worry if something spills on it, it won't soak into the material, you'll simply be able to wipe it off.
You can treat your raincoat, hiking gear or even your tent, as water will roll off the surface after treatment, increasing its water resistance. The impregnating spray is an excellent multifunctional product, if you have any questions about its use or anything else, please contact us.
